摘要
With the development of Naturalism and the "biological turning", Teleology has been revived as a metaphysical theory and the base of naturalization in the Western contemporary philosophy. Teleology has evolved into a thorough Neo-teleology: Purpose is no longer viewed as the universal ultimate cause of everything, but only a property which evolves together with and belongs to the organism; it only applies to biological phenomenon. Neo-teleology has also developed systemic theories about the form, the kind, the substance, the occurring and developing process, the base of actualization and the effect of purpose. It is also an indispensable interpretive means which will supply the deficiencies of causal-functional interpretation of science.
