纳西东巴文化以其原始、质朴的特点引起的世人的关注。纳西族分布在的云南省、四川省及西藏自治区三省区毗邻的澜沧江、金沙江及支流无量河与雅江流域,面积达12个县,约8万平方公里。总人口约30万,其中大部分聚集于云南丽江地区,约占全国纳西总人口的66.5%,占全市总人口的60%。丽江市除纳西族外还集居约11个其他少数民族,故纳西族受到不同文化的影响。
