This paper reviews the importance of patent evaluation and popular assessment methods, then thoroughly introduces an empirical research by Prof. Harhoff and others as a classic research case on the patent evaluation method without market benchmarking from four aspects researching on the patent value, evaluation index, analyzing procedure and the results. Finally the authors generalize the four procedures, advantages and future application of this method.
