在阐述"工程"和"工程社会学"的基础上,认为就像任何工程活动都是嵌入在社会结构和社会关系之中的一样,在西部地区实施的生态移民工程也是嵌入在中国社会尤其是西部社会的结构之中的,西部地区在追求经济发展过程中所造成的对生态环境的破坏,促使了生态移民工程的实施。将生态移民工程与农民的身份转换结合起来,是中国西部地区农民市民化一条可行的途径。把生态移民工程和城市化建设科学地结合起来,是西部地区经济社会发展和实现现代化一种重要途径。

Sociology engineering is the application of sociological theory paradigm to study the law of engineering activities and the relations between engineering and sociology and other issues. Just like any engineering activities are embedded in social structures and social relationships, the ecological migration engineering projects implemented at the western region of China are in the same way embedded in the Chinese community, particularly the western social structure. The western region＇s ecological environmental damage caused by the pursuit of economic development prompted the implementation of the ecological migration engineering. Combining ecological migration engineering with the identity conversion of farmers is a feasible method for the farmers in China＇s western region. Combining ecological migration engineering with a scientific construct of urbanization is a major way for the economic and social development and the modernization at the western region.
