老子关于"不争"的思想是他社会治理的根本原则。与不争相联系的是柔弱、锲而不舍、包容一切、不敢为天下先等精神。老子讲的"不争"并不是一种高明的争,他不是在提倡君王南面之术。老子说"不争",是指"不去占有",他说"故天下莫能与之争",是指自己创造性的活动所产生的影响、作用和结果是无人可比的。老子试图以一种全新的视角给出一个从根本上解决人生和社会问题的答案。

Lao Zi＇s ideas about ＂not contending＂ are the basic principle of his theories of social administration. ＂No contending＂ is related to tenderness, perseverance, tolerance and the spirit of not being the trailblazer. Lao Zi＇s ＂not contending＂ is not a more sophisticated sort of con- tending. He was not promoting the craftiness of monarchy. When he said ＂not to contend＂, he meant not to occupy. When he said ＂then none can contend with you＂, he meant the influence, consequence and functions of your own creativity is unexampled. Lao Zi was trying to give an answer to the questions about life and society from a different perspective.
