智顗与陈、隋王朝关系新探——兼与潘桂明、董平相榷

New Exploration of the Relation Between Master Zhi Yi and Chen and Sui Dynasties

在崇尚佛教的共同社会背景下,陈、隋王朝与智顗的关系是相似的。无论陈朝宣帝、后主还是隋朝文帝、炀帝,对待智顗的态度都没有超出东晋以来形成的帝王与名僧之间互相尊重、互相支持的关系模式。而智顗对于两朝君臣的态度也大体相同,在遵守沙门律仪的前提下,出于弘法化众目的与世俗王权相周旋。

Under the common social background of advocating the Chen Dynasty and Zhi Yi is somewhat similar to that between Sui Dynasty Buddhism, the relationship between and Zhi Yi. Either for Emperor Xuan in Chen Dynasty , or Emperor Wen and Emperor Yang in Sui Dynasty, they treated Zhi Yi never went beyond the relation mode as mutual- respect and mutual -support between Emperors and renowned Monks which was developed since Eastern Jin Dynasty. Zhi Yi treated the sovereigns and ministers of the two dynasties almost in the same way. On the premise of complying with the teaching of Sramana, he publicized the power of Buddha and dealt with secular royal power at the same time.
