Vietnam: a Rising Backbone Force of ASEAN

1995年7月，越南正式加入东盟，成为东盟的第七个成员国和东盟自冷战结束后吸收的第一个新成员国。至今，越南加入东盟已有12年，在这短短的12年中，越南迅速地融人到东盟组织当中，积极发挥作用，成为东盟新兴的中坚力量。越南与东盟关系的迅速发展，是其推行积极务实的对外政策的结果，也是越南融人国际社会的一个成功标志。

With its accession into ASEAN,Vietnam has not only reached political reconciliation with ASEAN and ASEAN member countries, realizing its wish for entering the ASEAN family,but also attained the aim of rebuilding its national image and winning the respect of the world society. Regional cooperation has brought more and more opportunities of development-huge benefits along with them-to Vietnam.
