TAPs has been widely used in subjective scoring research recently. By reviewing the development of TAPs subjective scoring research over the past ten years, its operational pitfalls and limitations were pointed out despite its marginal success in some areas. To be more specific, the operational pitfalls lie in its failure to take into account those factors such as the types of TAPs data, the number of subjects and the degree of external intervention that may exert influence on the results of the research. Also, another important problem is the lack of detailed illustration of coding scheme and reliability of codings. The future development of TAPs subjective scoring research is concluded by offering some suggestions.
