摘要
詹姆斯.穆勒是19世纪英国著名的功利主义经济学家、功利主义伦理学家和功利主义教育思想家。穆勒认为,教育目的在于实现个人和他人的幸福,教育是一种影响人心理品质的环境因素。本文介绍分析了穆勒功利主义教育理论的主要观点,揭示了其理论产生的社会历史背景。认为该理论具有一定合理性,但也存在历史和阶级的局限性。
James Mill was the famous utilitarian economist , ethicist and educational thinker in the 19th century in England. He argues that the objective of education should be the realization of the happiness of oneself and others , and that education is the very important environment that affects human qualities of mind . This article makes an introduction and analysis of Mill's utilitarian educational theory and reveals the social and historic background which engendered it. The authors argue that Mill's utilitarian educational theory has certain rationalities , but it was not perfect for the reason of historic and social class restrictions.
