A Cognitive Study of the Generating Mechanism for Verbal Humor

概念合成理论是一种意义构建的理论,是意义构建的普遍模式,对语言具有强大的解释力。但在幽默言语的解读中,概念合成理论却显示出了其局限性,它无法对幽默效果产生的条件作一个令人了然的阐释;而Veatch的背离与常规理论却恰能弥补其不足,因此,在概念合成理论"四空间"模式的基础上,作者提出了一个新的幽默言语解读模式。

Conceptual blending theory which is concerned with on-line meaning constructions and is considered to be of great explanatory power to verbal language has its own defaults when it is used to interpret humor; however, violation-normality theory advocated by Veatch can overcome the defaults of conceptual blending theory. So the author puts forward a new interpretive model for verbal humor based on the conceptual blending theory.
