Tertium Comparationis Revisited

对比基础(TC)是对比语言学中的一个重要核心概念。本文首先对Krzeszowski(1984)和许余龙(1988)提出的两个分类体系加以比较,然后回应Chesterman(1998)对此努力提出的批评,最后得出结论认为,TC虽然是一个尚有争议的概念,但是在今后的语言对比研究中,我们或许仍然需要长期依赖这一概念。

Tertium comparationis （TC） is the single most important concept in Contrastive Linguistics （CL）. This paper first compares the two major taxonomies of the basic types of TC proposed by Krzeszowski （ 1984 ） and Xu （1988）. It then answers the criticism raised by Chesterman （1998） against using TC as the criterion for comparison. It concludes that, though still somewhat controversial, TC as a basic concept in CL is likely to be with us for a long time to come.
