汉英颜色词“黄”(yellow)之国俗语义探析

A Comparative Study of the Cultural Connotations of the Color Word "Yellow"(黄) between Chinese and English

汉语中"黄"和英语中"yellow"这对颜色词及其构成的词语都具有丰富的国俗语义。在语义上有同有异;在修辞上有褒有贬。研究颜色词语中所承载的国俗语义在跨文化交际中有很大的实用价值。本文拟对其国俗语义异同并存现象作一探讨、对比,以期对跨文化交际、翻译与教学等方面有所裨益。

The color word ＂yellow＂ （黄） and phrases relating to it in both Chinese and English are full of national cultural connotations. Syntactically similarities and differences are evident and rhetorically ＂yellow＂ can be either commendatory or derogatory in meaning. Studying the cultural connotations of the color word can be of great value in cross-cultural communication. This paper illustrates the similarities and differences of the color word ＂yellow＂ between Chinese and English by comparison in the hope of being beneficial to cross-cultural communication,translation,language learning and teaching.
