The intonational phrase is a unit of utterance, possessing an organic prosodic structure, and usually delimited by a pause and a boundary tone, capable of being subdivided into intermediate phrases. It has strong links with information unit and syntactic structure, while its realization is brought about by multiple factors working together： core, individual and pragmatic ones. The phrasing competence, an essential part of oral ability, can be decomposed into the awareness, the constructing ability and the performing ability.
