An Interview with Famous Historian LIN Gan-quan

林甘泉先生是我国当代著名马克思主义史学家、中国古代经济史学家和秦汉史学家。历任中国社会科学院历史研究所所长、党委书记、学术委员会主任,国务院学位委员会历史学科评议组成员,国家社会科学规划历史组成员,中国秦汉史研究会会长等。现为中国社会科学院学部委员,历史研究所研究员、博士生导师。2007年7月17日下午笔者在本刊学术顾问宫长为先生的陪同下,就当前的国学热、马克思主义与国学以及治学方法等问题采访了林先生。林先生认为:"国学"这个概念的内涵有一个发展的过程,今天被炒得很热的"国学",其实也可以说就是传统文化。我们今天弘扬传统文化是为了建设有中国特色的社会主义精神文明,不是要搞民族主义;21世纪儒家文明引领世界文明潮流的说法不正确;研究和宣传传统文化要以马克思主义作指导;历史研究需要勤奋,要处理好专和博的关系,要学点马克思主义。

LIN Gan-quan is an outstanding Marxism historian, Chinese ancient economy historian, and Qin-Han historian in modern China. He is currently an academician in Chinese Academy of Social sciences, a research fellow and director for Ph.D. students in the Institute of History. On the afternoon of July 17, 2007, accompanied by our academic advisor GONG Chang-wei, the author interviewed LIN about the current popularity of Chinese Ancient Civilization Studies, Marxism and Chinese Ancient Civilization Studies, as well as the scholarly research method. LIN Stated the conceptual connotation of ＂Chinese Ancient Civilization Studies＂ is in the process of development. The popular ＂Chinese Ancient Civilization Studies＂ is, in fact, our traditional Chinese culture. The purpose of expanding Chinese traditional culture is to build distinct and advanced Chinese socialism culture and ideology, not to promote nationalism. It is incorrect to state that Confucian culture will lead the world civilization in the 21st century. Marxism must guide our traditional cultural study and propaganda. Diligence is necessary in history studies. Historians should study Marxism and deal wisely with the relationship between specialty and wide learning.
