名物化结构在语篇中的功能分析

An Analysis of the Functions of Nominalization in the Texts

语法隐喻是功能语法中的一个重要概念,名物化是产生语法隐喻的一项重要来源。名物化在英语语篇,尤其是书面语篇中大量存在,并具有多种功能。本文以Halliday提出的语法隐喻理论为基础,在语篇层面对名物化的功能进行分析。结果表明名物化结构具有使语篇衔接、正式、客观、简洁、权威等功能。通过对名物化结构在语篇中的功能分析可以提高对名物化结构的意识程度,从而了解和掌握名物化结构的用法,更好地分析语篇、理解语篇。

Grammatical metaphor is a very important concept in Functional Grammar, and Nominalizing is the single most powerful resource for creating grammatical metaphor. Nominalization is a frequently used linguistic device in English, especially in written English. This thesis attempts to study the functions of nominalization in texts on the basis of Halliday＇s Systemic-Functional Grammar, especially the theory of grammatical metaphor. It is found that at text level nominalization has such functions as cohesion, formality, objectivity, simplification, authority and conciseness.
