Philosophical Thinking on the Relationships between "Two Benefits" of Academic Journals

当前,理论界对学术期刊的社会效益与经济效益的关系存在不同的看法。一种认为,学术期刊只要抓社会效益,没有必要花力气追求经济效益;另一种观点认为,学术期刊应该走产业化的道路。从哲学角度看,目前学术期刊走产业化道路不现实,但不走产业化道路不等于只要重视社会效益、不重视经济效益。学术期刊应以社会效益为最高准则,同时也不能忽视经济效益。

There are two discrepant thoughts on social benefits and economic benefits of academic journals. One thought holds that academic journals should focus on social benefits, while the other emphasizes the industrialization of academic journals. Seen from the angle of philosophy, it is impractical for academic journals to be industrialized. However, it doesn＇t suggest that academic journals shouldn＇t focus on economic benefits without considering social benefits. Academic journals should take social benefits as the highest principle, and should focus on economic benefits.
