Self-assessment can supplement the weakness of traditional test and weaken its negative effects. It can make the students be aware of their achievement and progress and can motivate them to learn more actively. It is also a very important skill that students require for autonomous learning and life-long learning. This paper discusses the necessities and advantages of applying self-assessment in college English teaching.
