In the Thai-Dai chronicle, it is believed that the Lua people are the indigenous people in the Kingdom of Thailand in Southeast Asia. As the Thai-Dai people settled in the rich river valley, they took over the control upon the Lua indigenous people. In order to completely rule over the Lua people, the ruling class of Thai-Dai identified the existence of the Lua people and assimilated into their culture. They worshiped the Lua guardian God and allowed the Lua people to attend royal rituals so as to show that the Lua people were of special significance to the Kingdom of Thailand. The Lua people and Thai-Dai people lived together and shared their resources and cultures. The history of the Lua people was exactly the beginning of Jengtung and Chiang Mai's histories. Nobody knows where the Thai-Dai people came from. However, it is known that the Lua people have been living there fore a long time.
