The meaning of the arbitrary selection of standard state is discussed. To select standard state is to choose variables. For convenience, three sorts of standard state are universally accepted for different systems. Anyone of them can be selected to indicate the chemical potential of the system. In addition, the value of T is indefinite in the definition of standard state.
