The plasma concentrations of cAMP and cGMP in seven phases of perioperative period were measured by radioimmunoassay in sixteen patients underwent cardiopulmonary bypass and hypothermic anesthesia. The purpose of this study was to explore their roles under the stress and their meaning in clinical practice. The result implied that plasma cAMP and cGMP have appeared the synchronous change with the intensity of traumatic stimulation. The cAMP and cGMP was mainly related to the operative menuvour in heart and cardiopulmonary bypass. It was suggested that dynamic observation of plasma cyclic ribonucleotide can be considered as a reference index complex of the intensity of stress reaction in patients underwent cardiopulmonary bypass used as a special traumatic mode.
