An Analysis of Redundancy in the Double Syllabic Words in Chinese

羡余是语言的本质特征,汉语在词汇、句法、篇章等各个层面大量存在羡余现象。通过对汉语词汇中的最基本元素——双音词的羡余现象进行考察分析,可以将羡余成分的界限作出大致的划分,排除几种貌似羡余的情形。双音词两个词素的羡余性可以分为单向羡余与双向羡余。羡余现象产生的原因是语言各机制综合作用的产物。

Redundancy is thought to be a key feature of language. As in Chinese, it exists on different levels like glossary, syntax and text. The paper analyzes redundancy in the double syllabic words and draws a rough line as to its boundary. Certain sorts of seeming redundancy are excluded. The one - way redundancy and the two - way redundancy are set in perspective of the relation of morphemes. The paper tries to find the underlying causes of redundancy through lexiealization and others as well.
