衔接是语篇的重要特征,而照应是语篇衔接的主要手段之一。照应一般分为人称照应、指示照应和比较照应。从语篇语言学的角度,结合翻译的过程比较了在英汉语篇衔接方式上主要是照应的差异,探讨这种差异对翻译实践的启示意义。

Cohesion is the main feature of discourse and reference is one of the most important means of discourse cohesion. The reference consists of personal, demonstrative and comparative references. From the perspective of discourse linguistics, this paper compares the difference of reference between English and Chinese and explores the significance of the difference on translation.
