Decoding the reduced forms is something we have to confront in the bottom-up process of listening comprehen- sion. The experimental study revealed that the reduced forms obstacle Chinese students in listening comprehension significantly. The easiest sentences with the presence of reduced forms became almost unintelligible. In conclusion, the reduced forms are of vital importance to listening pedagogy and therefore could not be neglected.
