An investigation of academic achievements of ethnic students studying at Han Chinese middle and primary schools of Kashi in Xinjiang shows that parents＇ occupation, educational background, expectation for children and family language environment will influence students＇ academic achievements. In order to help children gain knowledge more effectively and make greater progress, parents tend to choose Han Chinese schools for their children to study.
