William Wordsworth is a great humanist. He supports the French Revolution in his early years resulting from the faith of human＇s liberation. However, he later chooses to retreat from the revolution due to the aspect of anti-humanism he notices in the revolution. He deeply sympathizes with the farmers impoverished in the process of industrialization. He becomes aware of the degeneration of human beings and criticizes their destruction to nature. The road of salvation he points out for human beings facing spiritual difficulty is to return to nature and the original Christianity.
