Institutional Research has begun to be paid attention to by educational workers as a field of higher education. It started in America in the middle of last century, and had a great effect on America and other countries. With the development of popularity, general adoption of the market principle and internationalization, our higher education has been faced with many challenges and opportunities, which asks for improvement on methods for higher education management and for development of institutional research in universities and colleges to promote the development of higher education in China.
