Studies on China-EU Relations:Three Perspectives Needed

本文在梳理国内现有研究的基础上,探讨了中欧关系研究的三个视角:国际体系的角度、社会本体论的立场,以及未来取向的规范视角,并通过这三个方面揭示中欧关系的进程建构特征、互动模式和未来发展趋势。

China-EU relations should be explored from three perspectives. Firstly, it should be considered against the context of the international system, which not only constitutes a broader environment for its development, but also is constituted by interactions between China and the EU and those among China, the EU and the United States. The relationship is becoming all the more complicated and difficult as the scope and depth of exchanges increase. Secondly, it should be explored in a constructivist way, so that more attention would be focused on the process of the interactions. The structure of the current relationship has been labeled a partnership with 4 characteristics: active interactions; tentative nature (going forward by feeling the way); soft-binding norms governing the process; and more complexity and flexibility. Thirdly, China-EU relations should be viewed with a future-oriented approach. China and the EU need to take care of the relationship with a long-term vision and with more preparations for challenges and difficulties.
