Along with the spread of terrorism in the world after the 9. 11 incident, the Muslim separatism in the southern Philippines confluences into terrorism, and becomes an important component of the terrorist network in Southeast Asia and the world at large. The development of relations between the Philippines Muslim separatist movement and the Islamic world has experienced the transformation from the relative clarity in the cold war to the chaotic state after the cold war. The southern Philippines has become one of the hot - spot areas of ethnic, religious conflicts and terrorism in the world.
