A cadmium-enriched area covering an area of 450km^2 with the average content of Cd of 0.76mg/kg and the maximum value of 7.65mg/kg in top soils, which is located in a coastal area of East Hebei Province, was investigated by Institution of Geological Survey of Hebei Province. The Cd-enriched area is as large as the area of rice planting. On the basis of the results of geochemical survey for top and deep soils, this study deals with the enrichment and origin of soil cadmium by using the techniques of enrichment factor and multi-analysis. The results indicated that cadmium was enriched remarkably in top soils of the study region, with the average enrichment factor(EF) of Cd being 3.27 and the maximum value being 23.3. The plots of Cd geochemistry map, EF isoline and pollution factor score are almost consistent. There exists the sole pollution factor of Cd in the abnormity region and cadmium enrichment is considered to have resulted from anthropogenic activities.
