Freedom of Migration and the Reform of Chinese Household Register System

迁徙自由是为多数国家宪法所确认的一项基本人权,是公民追求幸福的法律保障,由于历史原因,我国的户籍制度采取了严格限制迁徙自由的措施。在当前的经济条件下,必须针对社会现实,对户籍制度进行改革,还公民尤其是广大农民以迁徙自由,逐步实现公民在法律面前的平等。这一改革应切中要害,而且必须是渐进式的,不能一蹴而就。

Freedom of migration is a basic human rights, which is confirmed by the constitutions of most countries, and is a law guarantee for a citizen to pursue happiness, because of the historical reason, the household register system of our country adopted strict measure to restrict freedom of migration. Under the current economic condition, the reform of the household register system must be carried out to return the right of freedom of migration of peasants and gradually realize the equality of law. The reform should strike at the heart of the problem, which is not expected to achieve the goal overnight.
