The significance of the novel lies not solely in its postmodern experimental structure but also the new theme about contemporary Jewish people to look for their promised land. It＇ s a fundamental problem for them. Based on a textual analysis, the thesis attempts to revel the writer＇s change on his career by making a comparison between the writing skill and subject of this novel and those in Roth＇ s early novels.
