A Jury of Her Peers by Susan Glaspell is one of the classics of feminist writing. The novel employs various narrating tactics, among which obviation is most outstanding and best features its feminism. Obviation means that the writer purposefully avoids any direct description of women＇s painful experiences but implies them in other effective ways. Such tactics include third-person perspective, situational suggestion, peer clues and so on. The method of obviation is incarnated in such aspects as feminist writing, reading and aesthetic.
