大学精神是经过长期历史积淀形成的,由师生为主体共同创造的关于大学教育的价值体系和信念体系。人文教化精神、科学探索精神、学术自由精神是大学精神的基本思想内涵。从本源上和本质上看,人文精神的核心是通过教化使人的德性和智力得到发展和完善,这是古今中外教育的根本使命和追求的终极目标。科学精神就是崇尚学术、追求真理的精神。大学坚持的科学精神包括探索意识、批判意识和宽容意识。学术自由是指大学教师有发表、讨论学术意见而不受干涉和惩罚的自由,保持思想独立和人格独立是学术自由的重要体现。大学精神既是一种价值信仰、精神理念,也体现和渗透于大学管理制度和运行模式中。

University spirit is a long-term historical accumulation formed by system of values and belief system. Spirit of humanities, scientific exploration, academic freedom are the basic spirits of the University. From the origin and nature of view, the humanistic spirit is the core of people＇s moral character through education and intellectual development and perfection, which is the fundamental mission of ancient and modem education. The spirit of science is to uphold academic and pursue the truth. The science spirit of University includes con- sciousness of exploring, criticism and tolerance. Academic freedom is the manifestation of independence of personal thoughts.
