The application of flying shears in cut-to-length line and its development have been summarized in the text with its shearing principle, the classification and the working characteristics of driving mechanism, the advantages and disadvantages, and the application introduced.The problems in current manufacturing and research of the national flying shear have been presented with the prospect for the application of the flying shear in the steel rolling production line.
