LDM(Local Data Manager)是一组用于数据产品获取、管理和分发的应用程序集。SIMDAT是一个数据网格项目。气象领域方面的研发目前由DWD(德国气象局)、ECMWF(欧洲中期天气预报中心)、MeteoFrance(法国气象局)和UKMO(英国气象局)组成的联合工作组共同完成,旨在为分布的数据建立统一的平台视图,从而使数据被安全、稳定和方便地访问和使用。通过对这两项技术的介绍和分析并结合LDM实际应用的经验,对怎样合理构建面向共享服务的计算机系统和实现网络数据交换共享时二者的适用范围提出参考建议。

The Unidata Local Data Manager （LDM） is a collection of cooperating programs that can be used to select, capture, manage, and distribute arbitrary data products. It is currently being used to exchange TIGGE data among three archive centers such as CMA, ECMWF and NCAR. SIMDAT is data grids for data processing and product development using numerical simulation and knowledge discovery. The objective of SIMDAT for the meteorological sector is to develop a virtual and consistent view of all meteorological data distributed in the real-time and archived databases that are located at different data centers. The technological specifics of LDM and SIMDAT are described, and the comparison between them is conducted based on the practical experiences. Some suggestions on how to take advantage of them in architecting a resource-sharing platform are presented.
