从大量早期文献的分析可以看出,在骈文正式形成之前的上古时代,骈偶现象就普遍存在。骈文正是在这样的基础上慢慢发展起来的。正是民间普遍存在的骈偶观念才导致了骈文的生成。

From our study and analysis of great quantity of early literature, the pian-ou style occurs frequently long before the true establishment of pian literary style. It is on such foundation that pian literary style develops slowly. And it is folk concept of pian-ou style that leads to the appearance of pian literary style.
