西南彝族传统体育活动历史久远、丰富多彩、全民参与。四川、云南、贵州、广西彝族群众的传统体育竞技项目既有共性,同时也各具特色。彝族体育竞技活动具有深刻的文化内涵,其突出的特色是产生于现实生产劳动与社会互动实际,并具有健身、教育、娱乐、交往、凝聚、道德与历史熏陶等重要功能。
