中国在东亚合作中存在着许多重大的利益。通过东亚合作,除了可以把东亚经营成中国和平崛起的战略立足点和根据地之外,在具体的利益方面,还有助于为中国提供一个安全的周边环境,维护中国经济的稳定发展,遏制"台独"分裂势力在东亚拓展空间,以及推进中国西部大开发等。

China possesses many important advantages in taking part in East Asian Cooperation. Not only can the coopera- tion provides China a strategic platform and basic area for China＇s growing, but also can create a long-term, stable and peaceful outer environment for China＇s economic development at concrete aspects, and can help China to contain the seces- sionist activities of the forces of “Taiwan independence” in East Asia and can also promote the development of western area of China.
