The emerging Indian economy in recent years has aroused wide international academic interests. Moreover, it has made the developed countries, such as the U.S. and Japan, change or adjust their foreign economic strategies. It is noted that there is a sign that Japan has re -targeted its investment from China to India, and the "economically warm but politically cold" Sino -Japanese relationship is now economically turning cold. By comparing the Japanese firrns'FDI strategies in China and India, this paper argues that the changing pattern of the Japanese investment flow is not only driven by economic motivations but also by significant political considerations. In other words, the Indo -Japanese cooperation has a negative effect on China.
