武术的语体特征与翻译——目的论视角

On Translating Wushu from Chinese into English——A Perspective from Skopos Theory

武术文本具有武哲交融、语义模糊、文学色彩浓和标准化水平低等多重语体特征,给翻译造成巨大的障碍,加之缺乏一套行之有效的翻译标准,武术翻译中一词多译、死译硬译、望文生义等现象较为普遍。鉴于此,作者认为翻译武术文本前应该首先确定译本的主要目的是传播技击技巧,还是要再现武术中蕴涵的文化信息。然后再根据译文的交际目的选择"工具性翻译"或"文献性翻译"。

Wushu texts, characterized by philosophicalness, fuzziness, literariness and poor standardization, represent tremendous difficulty for any endeavor to translate. Worsened by the lack of a unified criterion, mistranslation is rampant. Based on that, this author insists on clarifying the major function of TT before setting about translation-to illustrate the technical movements or to disseminate the cultural message, which the translator could fulfilled through either instrumental translation or documentary translation.
