with the development of Mobile phones, sending and receiving short messages have become a cultural phenomenon in modem life. Short messages, especially short message jokes, as a kind of entertainment, are more and more favored. This paper explores short message jokes from the perspectives of pragmatics in attempt to have a better understanding and appreciation of them.
