How to make a chief physician's rounds a success?

主任查房是医疗质量的重要保证。主任要做好查房工作，必须：①思想重视。②做好查房准备，其中包括选好病人，做到“三看”。③认真组织，包括查房按时开始，注重三个目的和三个程序，即病历报告、看病人、讨论，严格的查房纪律。④查房后要严格检查，包括检查病历、医嘱、病人，了解查房中的意见的记录、执行的情况以及新出现的问题，从而保证主任查房的效果。

A chief physician's making rounds of the patients is an important guarantee for medical quality. To make the rounds successfully, he must: 1)have a good understanding of this act; 2)make enough preparations including a careful selection of the patients to visit and carry out, the three examinations; 3)organize the visits conscientiously including the punctual start of the visits, the special attention paid to the three objectives and three procedures of reading medical records, talking to patients, and exchanging views with fellow physicians with the enforcement of disciplines on rounds; and 4)carry out a strict examination of the medical records, physicians' prescriptions and the patients' grievances after the rounds are made. The chief must see to it that those grievances are duly redressed and pay attention to new problems that may arise.
