Briefly expounding the value of academic documents by Zhao Yong-xian

赵用贤,江苏常熟人,明隆庆、万历时期著名的政治家、学者和藏书家,他博藏精校图书,编著《赵定宇书目》,对虞山藏书刻书之风有开启之功,保留了一些罕见文献,文章对其学术文献思想做了概述并分析了形成原因。

Zhao Yong-xian, born in Changshu of Jiangsu, was a famous politician, scholar and book collector in the periods of Longqing and Wanli, the Ming Dynasty, who vastly collected and accurately collated plenty of books, and complied the Bibliographic Catalogue by Zhao Ding-yu. He blazed a trial for book-carving and book-collecting in Yushan, successfully preserved a lot of rare documents handed down from the ancient times. This paper is to summarize his academic thoughts and to analyze the sources of his academic thoughts.
