The oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane (ODHE) over CaTi 0.9 M 0.1 O 3- δ (M=Li, Na, K) catalysts has been examined in the range 600 ̄700℃. It is observed that the C 2H 4 selectivity is improved by substitution of alkali metal for Ti in CaTiO 3. By means of electrical conductivity and H 2 TPR measurement, it appears that the oxygen vacancy and the non fully reduced oxygen species are created by alkali metal doping, and the latter seems to be the active sites for C 2H 4 selectivity. CO 2 TGA indicates that the intrinsic catalytic behavior of alkali metal doped perovskite catalysts can be shown off only after the decomposition of carbonate formed by the action of CO 2 with alkali metal and alkaline earth component of the catalyst during the reaction.
