上海外语教育出版社即将推出“新世纪大学英语系列教材”。这是一套严格按照《大学英语课程教学要求》并为落实“分层次教学”、“分类指导”、“因材施教”、“适应个性化教学”等教学原则而编写的新一代大学英语教程。本文介绍了系列教材的编写背景，并对编写理念和各教程的主要特色进行了具体阐述。

＂New Century College English Coursebook Series＂, a new coursebook series for China＇s college students, will soon be launched by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. Designed in strict compliance with College English Curriculum Requirements issued by the Ministry of Education, the new coursebook series aims at fully implementing ＂the principle of providing different guidance for different groups of students and instructing them in accordance with their aptitude so as to meet the specific needs of individualized teaching. ＂ This article gives a brief introduction of the new coursebook series in terms of its compilation concepts and the major distinctive features of each component.
