中国的运动会有形形色色的组织形式。这些运动会的起源和最早状态以及在中国形成的过程尚是不明确的问题。中国和日本共用"运动会"一词,谁先谁后,其最早概念及含义是什么?1.田径比赛起源英国,经美国教会学校传入中国。2.娱乐、表演性质的运动会起源于日本并伴随着洋务运动的学堂教育传入中国。3.综合运动会应包括娱乐、表演性质的运动会和各种类项目比赛的运动会。4."运动会"一词原意是指娱乐、表演性质的体育会。

There are variety of styles and organizations of sports competitions in China. Yet their origin and their earliest forms and their coming- into - being are still problematic. Whether, for example, is the term sports competition （Yun Don Hwei in Chinese） first used in China or in Japan？ And what is it meant originally？ etc. In this paper, focuses are on the following questions： 1. Are the Track and Field meets originated in British, and then introduced into China via United States missionary school？ 2, Or are they introduced into China through Westemization movement（westemization movement？ 4. Are comprehensive sports competitions to include all kinds of events？ And 4, Does ＂Sports Competition＂ originally mean entertainment show, namely performances of sports？
