The Design Analysis and Implementation of High Speed Forwarding Engine

摘要 高速转发引擎是核心路由器设计中的重要难点和关键技术,基于FPGA技术,分析了高速转发引擎设计中的挑战,并给出了一种基于并行流水线机制的10Gbps转发引擎设计方案. High Speed forwarding engine is the important challenge and key technique. In this paper, the implementing restriction of the 10Gbps forwarding engine with FPGA is studied in detail, which includes the requirement of transmission bandwidth, IP look-up time, header processing time, a fast IP look-up scheme is presented and a header processing module of parallel and pipeline structure is provided. Finally we give a feasible implementing design of the 10Gbps forwarding engine.
