Polymethacrylimide foams have been known for a long time. They have a cross - linked, 100% closed cellular structure, and have been widely used as the core material for layered materials, especially for multilayer materials, laminates, composites and foamed composites, because of their good mechanical property and their low weight. The property, preparation and applications of polymethacrylimide foams are reviewed in this paper. Polymethacrylimide foams represent the main research direction of the high performance foam plastics.
