住宅是城市发展中的重要组成部分，住宅体系自身的合理性关系到整个城市的整体发展。对广州市住宅类建筑中屋顶的不同情况进行了分析，指出其各自的优点和不足并对住宅屋顶新的发展方向——种植物屋面进行了介绍，在设计中应该加以推广应用。
