富有“创造的思想力”的文学观——评胡适《白话文学史》

A Review of Hu Shi's "Vernacular History of Literature"

胡适的《白话文学史》显然是一部为"造今日之文学"而"造"出来的"史"。与其说胡适在写史,倒不如说他在表明一种新态度。这种新态度可以叫作"评判的态度"。他评判的正确与否在今天已经昭然,但《白话文学史》的根本意义不在于评判的正误,而在于评判本身所显示出来的文学观念的革新。这点在今天来讲仍然有启发作用。

Hu Shi's 'Vernacular History of Literature' is obviously the 'history' in order to 'create today's literature'.Hu Shi was rather indicating one kind of new manner than writing the history.This kind of new manner may be called 'a manner of judgment'.Whether his judgment is correct has been already apparent.However the basic significance of 'Vernacular History of Literature' does not lie in the result of the judgment but the innovation of the literature ideas demonstrated by the judgment which is still inspiring to us even nowadays.
